Let’s Go Play
Mommy asked David to watch his baby sister, and his friends are calling him to come play outside. What will he do?

A good king and a bad king, battling over a “little city”: our heart. A series of books and puppets that teaches children to stop, think, and choose good.

King Solomon, the wisest of all people, told of a little city and a great king who came to fight against it. Our Sages and the books of Chassidus explain: the little city is a person, and inside are two kings, the good inclination and the evil inclination, each wanting to rule.
In the Two Kings series the parable becomes a story: a child faces a real choice, the Bad King whispers, the Good King answers, and the child discovers that the decision is in his own hands.

Just as two kings wage war over one city, each wishing to capture it and rule over it… so the two souls… wage war against each other over the body and all its limbs.Tanya, Chapter 9

With the puppets, the teacher doesn’t need to scold. She simply asks, “Who are you listening to right now?” and the child understands on his own. The puppets fit every moment of the day and every holiday of the year.

The series grew out of a stage play performed for more than fifteen years in schools, summer camps and community centers. In every show, a child from the audience faced a dilemma, and two actors, the Good King and the Bad King, “battled” inside his heart. Many of the children who saw it told us years later how much it affected them.
